days, about 400 children!

A Teacher’s Perspective on The Posmenatt Way by Johnnie Walter Blackwelder
As a second grade teacher, I feel that The Posmenatt Way is an excellent message for children and adults of all ages. The Posmenatt Creed has words we should all live by. I am already telling my children they need to have an "I can" attitude and now I have a book to back me up. When I read the book to my second grade class, they truly enjoyed it. It has such a positive message and the children were able to relate to having negative feelings about certain situations. It’s also great to teach the skill of making inferences about how the characters are feeling. After reading the book, I asked my class of 2nd graders who are 7 and 8 years old to tell me their opinion. I received some of the following feedback:
“I think the book was awesome!”-Hailey, 8 years old.

Hello,

I met you at the Books a Million at Marsh Landing about 2 months 
ago. It's refreshing to see a book about kids being positive. We try to 
teach our 2 kids the benefits of being positve and it's great to see it 
being reinforced with your book. Last night, my 8-yr old was struggling 
with his math homework. He had a meltdown - literally. I told him that he 
should be positive - like the Posmenatts. I offered him the small "I am a 
Posmenatt Kid" sticker that came with the book, as a reward for completing 
his math homework. It worked. He focused, stayed positive that he could 
figure out the problems, and then completed it. We made a big deal out of 
awarding him the sticker and I proudly placed it on his shirt near his 
heart. He thought he won an Oscar. The small stickers are real motivators.
The only problem is that there is only one sticker per book. Can you make
a few sheets of stickers available for purchase? Keep up the great work!

"My four year old who is not reading quite yet , loved the bright colored illustrations , and was able to understand that the characters Petey and Penny were trying to make the characters in the book happy instead of sad and understood the difference by how the words and the rhymes told the stories !! Secondly he was able to look at the book by himself and from the illustrations tell me the story!!!!"

Reading for PTA Reading Night at Atlantic Beach Elementary in Atlantic Beach, Florida. This is a fundraiser for the school library fund and $3.00 from each book sold will be donated to the fund. Come help us raise money for the school and enjoy a fun evening of reading. There will be free Pizza at 6:00pm and the readings will start soon after. Don't be late:)

Join us for the Amelia Island Book Festival this Saturday in downtown Fernandina Beach, Florida. Help us celebrate reading and children's literature. There will be food, games, giveaways for the kids and many Authors from around the country.  The event will be at the Intersection of Centre Street and 8th Avenue South near the St. Peters Catholic Church in beautiful downtown Fernandina.

This is a Wednesday and we will be reading to children at Atlantic Beach Elementary. It is my distinct honor and pleasure to autograph any books purchased and to be delivered the day of the event. The children will receive a pre-order form a week or so before the event so that they may get their copy of the book signed, in person, the day of the reading! Look for your childs form to come home with them soon! We are donating $4.00 of each book sold to the school library fund. Special event pricing details will be in the flyer sent home from school. We will be joining San Jose Elementary for their Book Fair on this Thursday. We will do two readings, one at 8:45am and the second at 9:45am to children assembled in the school cafeteria. Parents will receive a Pre-order form to purchase the book in advance and we will also be selling the book in the Book Fair all week. COMING IN 2012!

We are honored to be selected to participate in the 2012 Amelia Island Book Festival as a featured Children's Author in Feb of 2012! We will speak at area elementary schools on Friday 2/17/2012 and then read and sign books at the festival on Sat 2/18/2012. More details to come as we get closer to the event!
